BSc (Hons) Equine Science

Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage Therapist (JING)

Member of the Sports Massage Association and Associate of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

My name is Chloe Johnson. I am a Remedial Massage Therapist based in Tarporley. I established my business in July, 2020 to increase my client base and help more people get better from injuries which are usually fixable using a new alternative therapy.

My Background

I am originally from Bunbury, Cheshire and I studied at Tarporley High School and Sixth Form College. After completing my A-Levels, in 2016, I began my degree at Reaseheath University Centre in studying a foundation degree in Equine Physical Therapies. In 2018, I began my Top-up year in BSc (Hons) Equine Science and in November 2019 I graduated. During this time, I decided that my future was not treating horses. Alongside my second year at university, I completed a Level 3 diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (Humans) and began my first job working as a massage therapist. I gained so much invaluable experience working ‘hands-on’ for a year. I was then ready to treat my own clients. In the next year and a half, I had gained almost 200 clients who have given me the confidence and experience that I have today.

In July 2020, I decided to begin my new venture – Cheshire Remedial Therapy! I had no experience running my own business and due to COVID-19, it was uncertain what the future would hold for small businesses.

I completed the Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy certificate at JING in Brighton in 2021 along with CPD in Osteopathic Techniques through the FHT. I keep up CPD training through the Sports Massage Association.

In April 2024, Anna joined the CRT team. She is hardworking, keen and has a thorough touch and attention to detail. Anna has slotted in extremely well at CRT and is currently taking on new clients under Cheshire Remedial Therapy.

I have now been successfully running Cheshire Remedial Therapy Ltd for 4 years, now with 800 clients.

My Background

My name is Anna. I have been working at Cheshire Remedial Therapy for about four months now and I’m really enjoying it. Since working here I have completed 3 courses; Advanced Anatomy, Low Back Pain, and Neck and Shoulders. I am also going to Brighton to complete the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain in October 2024 and I am hoping to do more qualifications in the future. My favourite muscular/soft tissue injuries to treat are sciatica and neck and shoulder pains, areas in which I have been particularly successful in helping relieve people’s pain. I enjoy both Sports Massage and Remedial Therapy. Although, I have been learning Remedial Therapy from scratch I am feeling more confident day by day.

More about myself, I am 20 years old, I live in Northwich and I went to Weaverham High school. I have always enjoyed sports classes/clubs in primary and high school and took dance and sports studies for GCSEs and started gymnastics when I was 8 up to when I was 14. When I left school I went to South Cheshire College and completed my Level 3 Sports Coaching course which built my confidence and would enable me to coach cheer classes. In this course, there was a module about Sports Massage which I really enjoyed. A year went by and I finally decided what I wanted to do so I went to Ellesmere Port College to complete my Level 3 Sports Massage Diploma and I loved every minute of it.

Outside of work, I have attended an internationally competitive Cheerleading team in Northwich for 6 years. I train 3 days a week and coach some of the classes 5 days a week. I have gained life skills during my time as a coach like patience and discipline and gained experience working within a team and with children and parents. My biggest achievement was winning 1st place as Grand Champions in Italy with my team. Our goal is to make it to World Championships in Orlando, Florida. Through Cheerleading, I have completed a Leadership Course, Level 2 Coaching. I am First Aid trained and DBS checked. I am also hoping to complete a Level 3 Cheerleading qualification this month.
